Maharaja Cuisine of India

I recently had a quick business lunch at the Maharaja in Boulder. I had heard good things about it from friends, and I was anxious to try it because I had enjoyed the food at Jin Chan previously and hoped this would be an adequate replacement.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is very similar to what it was like formerly as Jin Chan. There is quiet music playing (Indian vocals), but overall the restaurant is devoid of the sounds of the kitchen or the parking lot outside, so it is very conducive to business lunches or meetings where you want to talk a lot and be heard.
The wait staff was very friendly, they always kept my drink full and they seated us straight away. Our check was also brought in a timely manner.
Everyone in my group had the lunch buffet. This consists of a selection of dishes which are what you would expect from an Indian restaurant: meatball masala, chicken tandoori, and a few curry dishes ranging from the very mild to the mildly spicy. There is something everyone can eat (vegetarians too) and there is also a small dessert bar featuring rice pudding and a dough and syrup dish whose name I forget.
The buffet was good food, although it may have been a bit too watered down for my tastes. Too much of what I expected, and not enough of the adventurous food that you can sometimes get at these restaurants. There was not much that set Maharaja apart from Tandoori Grill or The Taj.
All totalled, my bill came to just over $10 including the buffet and Coke (free refills). I was very happy with the whole experience and will be visiting again shortly. If Maharaja is more central to your location than the other Indian restaurants in Boulder then this one is definitely worth a look.
