Centro use to be Rhumba on Pearl Street. The owner recently renovated and changed the restaurant’s name and menu. I haven’t been yet but I hope it has the similar feeling to Rhumba.

    I went to Centro last night for the first time since the change…the setting was amazing, the patio was quaint and the menu was fantastic. I’m usually a pretty safe eater but last night we tried several different things that were surprisingly delicious. We were there for I think the first day of the summer menu so there were a lot of people making sure they had gotten it right…the service was great all around from the bartenders to the manager who constantly checked in and our waiter who was funny and refreshing.

    The mojitos were good, not great…but good and the sangria had me wanting more…

    The Blue Marlin was great, we got it rare which was a good call and it was extremely flavorful.

    The chicken and yam tacos were a safe choice but intensely delicious and flavorful, the portion was large but good for left overs.

    The seared watermelon was my favorite…it had a kick to it, and was topped with jalapeños and honey, extremely delicious!

    The pork belly appetizer was great, a definite must.

    for dessert we tried a band new dessert the waiter was crazy about…creamy new york cheesecake topped with tequila soaked blueberries…very odd sounding but extremely delicious. it had a warm cinnamon, graham cracker taste…not the typical tequila taste that i was expecting.

    I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice quiet place for a date, or a happy hour or a gathering place for friends.
